ZIMBABWE REPUBLIC POLICE

  • The mandate of the police force is spelt out in the constitution. The police are charged with:-
  • Preserving peace,
  • Preventing crime,
  • Protecting property from malicious injury,
  • Protecting human life through disaster management and civil protection
  • Detecting crime, and
  • Apprehending offenders and suppressing all forms of civil commotion or disturbance that may occur in any part of Zimbabwe.

 REGISTRAR GENERAL

  • Processes  births, deaths, burials, cremations, registration of brands, marriages, citizenship, national registration cards, travel documents and registration of voters.

 IMMIGRATION CONTROL

 The department processes-

  • all visa applications
  • investor residence permit applications
  • temporary employment applications
  • scholars and students permits
  • diplomatic accreditations
  • ordinary residence permits (aliens, dependents, spouse and resumption)
  • deportations of prohibited immigrants

 
 NATIONAL ARCHIVES OF ZIMBABWE

  • Acquire, preserve and provide access to documentation, in whatever format, which comprises a legal and historical record of Zimbabwe’s past and present.

NATIONAL MUSEUMS AND MONUMENTS OF ZIMBABWE

  • Preservation of national  monuments

 

BOARD OF CENSORS

  • Censor all materials (films, videos, literature, etc.)
  • Issue licences to public entertainers

 

 LOTTERIES AND GAMING BOARD

 Regulate lotteries and gaming activities

FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION

 Provides financial and administration services to the ministry

 The department undertakes to-    

  • Prepare and implement the ministry’s budget within the RBB time frames
  • Submit all financial returns by due date
  • Process transfers and payments for claims (T&S, phone allowances etc.) within a week of receipt of request
  • Provide transport on request
  • Purchase and supply goods and services within fourteen days of receipt of request
  • Conduct physical checks of all ministry assets once a year


POLICY AND RESEARCH

Facilitate the implementation of ministry policies and programmes as well as provide regulatory services to the ministry’s clients.

  • Issue and renew private investigators,
  • security guard,
  • copper  licences
  • second hand licences
  • Commissioner of Oaths.

 HUMAN RESOURCES

  • Produce and implement a human resource development plan annually
  • Budget for human resource needs
  • Monitor the implementation of the PPS quarterly
  • Implement on an annual basis the HIV/AIDS programme
  • Manage the salary bill monthly
  • Process staff requests and applications within three weeks from the date of application or request.

 LEGAL SERVICES

  • Produce draft Ministerial documents for the Cabinet Committee on legislation and Parliament.
  • Draft subsidiary legislation for examination by the Attorney General’s office.
